Last time, I took you out lunching at Pergola, today however, we are eating FASTFOOD! We will be eating at Southern Fried Chicken in Ouakam. This is my first time visiting SFC here in Dakar. I have seen the spot while roaming around Sandaga etc., but I have never actually been there. Until today! I am too excited to share this with you. Let’s just get into our lunch shall we?!
Southern Fried Chicken
Southern Fried Chicken is a fast-food restaurant in Ouakam. There are actually more SFC’s all around Dakar, I only know the one in down-town Dakar. Unlike the other restaurants I’ve been writing about, this one, (and Kabylie) is actually a fast-food restaurant. There are no local dishes or menus that change on a daily basis.Southern Fried Chicken has a wide range of burger menu’s, buckets and sandwiches.
When my colleague and I went to Southern Fried Chicken in Ouakam, it was basically empty. Therefore, we had all this space basically to ourselves, and of course, we used it. The second time we went, it was the same thing. There were not a lot of people and we could eat in privacy. Due to the fact that the times we visited it was quiet, you don’t have to wait too long for your food. Service is ok, they are friendly, they open the door for you and answer your questions.
my choice
Of course, I went for the fried chicken! I was ready to be disappointed because the way chicken is fried is still different from what I am used to. I once went to Africa Fried Chicken, and the food was okay overall. However, eventually I came to the conclusion that it was too sour, because of the vinegar/mustard. However, Senegalese people love eating mustard and vinegar with their food, so I suppose it was made based on that.
my opinion
I definitely love Southern Fried Chicken’s chicken! They are spicy and tasteful. The service is good and I cannot wait until I’ll go again! As you might expect, I definitely recommend eating at Southern Fried Chicken. Especially if you like chicken and fast food.

Wow, it’s nice to see that classic American food can be bought in different countries such as Senegal.
