Today, is the last day of the year and in this post, I want to share my 2017 recap and tie this to my “2017: New Year’s ‘Resolutions’post. You could say that I did some pretty cool things in 2017. I can only hope to continue to do amazing things and gain great experiences! Like I said at the beginning of the year, I do not really do the whole new year, new me thing. There were just a few things that I wanted to do more, and if you want to know what: keep reading!
2017 recap
Looking back on 2017, I have to say that it was a good year. I had the opportunity to work on myself and gain some pretty cool experiences. Other than that, I have been able to do more of the things I listed in my ‘resolutions’ for 2017. Below, I have listed my “2017 resolutions” with a short reflection of how I have experienced it in 2017.
reading
Reading more books was on the top of my list. I have read a lot of books in 2017, which is why I decided to add a new segment to my blog: the Twisted Book Club! Soon, I will share my take on the different books I have read. Of course, this will not be all of them, but the ones I deem worthy to talk about ;). I will try to write about it in such a way that you could still read the book, even after reading my review on it. The reason for starting the book club, is because after reading a book and being so wrapped up in the story, I really want to talk about it. And it is so hard to talk about it when people have not read the book. Thankfully, my younger sister reads a lot (more and faster than I actually) and we can talk about the characters and stories.
writing
Writing more was the second on my list. Not only have I been reading a lot in 2017, but I have also been writing a lot. One of my dreams is to write books. I believe it is important for me to keep writing, even if I don’t share it online, it is important for me to continue to work on my craft. Most of the writing I have done in 2017 were short poems.
Photography
Taking more pictures was the next on my list. Since I did a lot of cool things and visited a lot of new places, I also took a lot of pictures! Enlarging my network was quite obvious for my list. I mean, I have been to numerous events and there is no way I’d go to some events without networking. I have met a lot of amazing people this year, like Audrey from VisiterLafrique.
Traveling more should have been on top of my list, since I have traveled so much in 2017. I had the opportunity to visit 5 new countries: China, Laos, Thailand, Cape Verde and The Gambia and as we speak, I am still in Senegal.
