Thailand: Chiang Rai

After spending about half a week in Luang Prabang, it was time to say goodbye to our Chiang Rai, Thailand - 2017 friends and move on. We bought tickets for a night bus to Chiang Rai, Thailand. Even though we had to say goodbye to Laos, I had the pleasure to meet a family friend from home in Chiang Rai! What are the odds that someone you know from home will be at the same time/place about 6,000 miles away? This is what happened during my trip 🙂 Welcome to Chiang Rai!

White Temple Chiang Rai

Chiang Rai, Thailand - 2017The first thing we did was explore Chiang Rai and visit the White Temple. The temple was so beautiful! We walked through the temple and enjoyed the beauty of it. There was also a souvernir shop where there were paintings and postcards for sale.

Of course, I was so busy Chiang Rai, Thailand - 2017finding postcards for my family that I forgot my camera at the desk. However, I only found out about an hour after, and when I was contemplating about how and where I might have lost it, I was so convinced that I left it in the tuc tuc and I was so stressed out. We went back to the station where we took the tuc tuc, and we asked around and this tuc tuc driver called and asked around, and told us it was at the White Temple. I was convinced that the driver found the camera and brought it there since he picked us up from there. Guess what? I forgot it at the souvenir shop. Of course, we had to take a picture (duh). Note: In the Netherlands, you would probably not get your camera back at such a crowded place, and I was so convinced that I would never have it again. However, my friend assured me that Thai people are very honest and helpful people, and I have the pretty picture to forever remind me of it.

night market

After getting my camera back, we decided to check out the night market in Chiang Rai. The vibe at night was amazing! There were so many places on the market where you could get lot’s of foods. Like pancakes, pad thai, chicken, sea food, rice, fries, fruits, shakes and more! Also, there was amazing Thai music, and dancing. Please check out the video below to get a glimpse of what I am talking about!

Another thing that was really nice about Chiang Rai was their flower market.
