Laos: Luang Namtha

Louang Namtha After a few days in Jinghong, we decided that it was time to proceed our journey towards Laos. In this blogpost you will read everything that we have seen in Luang Namtha. So, if you want to read more about me driving a scooter, beautiful waterfalls and the amazing Laosian nature, keep on reading!

from China to Laos

We took a bus from Jinghong to Luang Namtha. Keep in mind that it was the first time in Laos for both of us, therefore, we explored the country together for the first time. The first real day in Laos, we decided to do some scooter riding. There was a beautiful place called Muang Si about 60km’s from where we were staying. We decided to drive up there and check it out.

I have to say that the beginning of the trip, I was kind of scared. Mostly, due to the fact that I have never driven a scooter before and on top of that, we had to go 60km’s BOTH WAYS. Other than that Laos has a lot of winding roads, so there is no way you can go 60km’s per hour for a long period of time as you have to check  around every corner whether there is oncoming traffic. Another crazy thing about the roads were the holes in it. There were a lot of huge and small holes in the road, so, we had to dodge these as well.

img_3114I have to say that the way back was way better and more comfortable for me. Of course, this is because I already know the road, I know what to keep in mind and I am more used to the scooter. I do not want to waste more words on it, please check out the video below 🙂
