Twisted Quotes x Daniell Koepke

Hi!

In this post, I want to introduce a new segment: Twisted Quotes. No, this is not about crazy or weird quotes. Just IMG_0937quotes that I want to share with all of you guys. I always send quotes that I come across on social media and mostly on Tumblr to my friends and they mostly like it. With certain friends, I can talk about quotes and their deeper meaning. One could say that in some way, quotes are really my thing. Therefore, I want to share quotes on the regular with you guys :). I will also try to find interesting pictures that I made myself to match the quote.

This first quote, is you are enough by Daniell Koepke and is called. I came across this piece on Tumblr and I really love it :). You can read it below!

Thesis Defense - November 3rd 2016
Before defending my thesis

Good question! What has Senegalese Twisted (me) been up to for the past year? Well, I have been doing a lot of things! I am almost graduated, I went to Senegal twice, I have been on set for a few movies and shows and two of the productions were AMERICAN productions, in between everything I went to classes and trips and what not. In this post, I will tell you all about the things I have been doing and some things, I will elaborate on in future blog posts.

African Business Day 2016

Hi guys,

A few months ago, I went to the African Business Day in Rotterdam, the 13639721_1132902093449483_1194392998_oNetherlands at the Erasmus University. I was actually contemplating whether or not to write a blogpost about this event. And I honestly think that it is important to do so (even though nobody reads my posts)… I think it is important for me to reflect on the things I have experienced and share that “I aspire to inspire others by sharing my experiences” right?! So, if you are curious about who were speakers at the African Business Day 2016, keep on reading. Enjoy :)!

HearWord Naija in Amsterdam!

Hi People!

I hopeIMG_5399 everyone is doing fine. I know I have not been blogging for a very long time and to be honest, writing this blog post has shown me how much I actually miss it. In other words: I will be blogging more often!

In this blog post, I would like to share with you this amazing experience I’ve had. Last Saturday, a good friend an I went to a performance act called HearWord, by Nigerian women. #HearWord is a Nigerian expression that means to hear, but also to listen. The act is very touching as it is about the realities that women face. However, the beauty of th eplay is that even though it has an African, Nigerian, narrative, all women are able to relate to the situations. As said on their website, the play was focused on all the things in life that women come across that limit their potential for achievement, independence, decision-making and leadership. On top of that, they were also able to give perspectives across a variety of socio-economic levels. In other words: this was a true masterpiece. (more…)

Natural Hair Routine

Hi Beauties!

IMG_9750

A while back (October 2014) I made some pics to show you guys my Natural hair wash routine. However, my laptop crashed, and I thought I lost the pics, but I FOUND THEM! Thankfully. So, I will still share my routine with you guys, just take notice that these pics were made in the beginning of November. I got boxbraids at the end of August, right  before I left Senegal this summer. One of my cousins, Awa, did them for me and they were pretty small, which is why they lasted so long ;). So anyways, this is a picture of me with my fresh box braids. I took the braids out after rocking them for a solid two months and decided to take pics in between :). (more…)

Update: July 2015

Hey Guys!

I am soooo sorry that I have not been able to update my blog for you guys since my trip to Poland earlier this May. I was really busy and to be honest, I was too lazy to upload pictures for you guys. Lol. So lame…

Anyways… I wanted to give you guys an update for the end of July. First, I wanted to share that I am officially back in Holland from my semester abroad! I have to say that Berlin was amazing! I have made new friends, I have learned a lot about living abroad alone and how to survive in another country on my own. To be honest, I would not expect it to go particularly wrong.. Mostly, because I am a very independent person already. Other than that, I think that everyone should live abroad at least for a few months. There are things that only experience can teach you, and those are the things that you will take with you forever.
